ARIZONA BILTMORE - THE ADOBE COURSE  (top)

The Adobe course - stately and grand, a forefather of modern design. The Adobe offers a simplistic beauty hard to find in an era when trickery is a goal in golf course architecture. When you long for a relaxing yet challenging round, there are few equal. The lush, 50 year-old fairways and spacious layout are a reminder of the game the way it was meant to be - a time when graphite was for pencil lead and golf balls only came in one color. Like the great players of it's day, the Adobe can tell you some stories.

The younger of the Biltmore family, smart, fresh and a bit precocious, this celebrated layout has quickly earned the respect of golfers everywhere. Rolling fairways lined with luscious pines meander through some of the most stunning homes in Phoenix, Well-bunkered greens demand precision shot selection, and the contoured greens roll as they come. Mountain vistas distract the unwary from the task at hand. Open fairways and large greens characterize this course.

 

CAMELBACK - THE RESORT COURSE  (top)

Camelback Golf Club features a $16 million renovation (March 2000) of the newlydesigned Resort Course resort course and offers distinct challenges to players of all skill levels. It is located in the heart of Scottsdale and features two championship courses. The address is 7847 N. Mockingbird Lane - Phoenix, Arizona 85016 . Architect: Arthur Hills Year Built: 2000 18 holes Par 72 Grass Type: Hybrid bermuda with Rye grass overseed during the winter months.

 

GOLF CLUB AT EAGLE MOUNTAIN  (top)

ARCHITECT: Scott Miller Year Built: 1996 18 holes Par 71
GRASS TYPE: Fairways are Bermuda with rye overseed during the winter months The greens are bentgrass. The Golf Club at Eagle Mountain takes advantage of a variety of land features, including rolling hills, ridge lines, lush valleys and washes and features a backdrop of prominent mountain outcroppings. In many instances, long extended views into untouched desert landscapes and area landmarks, such as Camelback Mountain, will be afforded.

 

GOLD CANYON -THE MOUNTAIN COURSE  (top)

ARCHITECT: Ken Cavanaugh YEAR BUILT: 1997 18 holes Par 70 GRASS TYPE: Bermuda grass with rye overseed during the winter monthsThe Dinosaur Mountain Course takes golfers farther into the high desert environment, where a round of golf includes magnificent views of the Superstition Mountains. The dramatic tee to green elevation changes are
breathtaking and the course has been described as "24 Karat Gold" by the Arizona Republic.

 

GOLD CANYON - THE SIDEWINDER  (top)

ARCHITECT: Cavanaugh/Penge/ Nash YEAR BUILT: 1998
18 holes Par 71GRASS TYPE: Bermuda Grass with rye overseed during the winter months. The Sidewinder Course features dramatic vistas of the surrounding mountains and takes golfers through native desert washes and around the base of Dinosaur Mountain.

 

GRAYHAWK GOLF CLUB - THE RAPTOR  (top)

ARCHITECT: Tom Fazio YEAR BUILT: 1996 18 holes Par 72
GRASS TYPE: Crenshaw bent greens, Tiffway 419 is used on the tees, fairways and roughs. All areas are overseeded with rye during the winter months. The Raptor Course offers mature desert landscaping witha unique par 3 8th hole named "Aces and Eights", which features a slightly hidden green and a beautiful view of the McDowell Mountains. "Quill Creek", the par 4 10th hole, features a creek that runs from left to right in front of the green then flows along the right side of the fairway to a large lake near the tee.

 

GRAYHAWK GOLF CLUB - THE TALON  (top)

ARCHITECT: David Graham-Gary Panks YEAR BUILT: 1994 18 holes Par 72 GRASS TYPE: Crenshaw bent greens, Tiffway 419 is used on the tees,fairways and roughs. All areas are over-seeded with rye during the winter months. The Talon Course has more that 1,000 native desert trees and desert landscaping and features two lakes and water that comes into play on the island green of the 17th hole and par 5 18th. A stunning five-level waterfall separates the 18th hole from the par 4 10th.

 

KOKOPELLI GOLF RESORT  (top)

Kokopelli is a challenging course, featuring lakes, rolling hills and fountains and places a premium on approach shots to the multi-level greens ARCHITECT: Bill Phillips YEAR BUILT: 1993 18 holes Par 72 GRASS TYPE: Bermuda with rye grass over-seeded during the winter months. This challenging, 18 hole par 72 championship course features impressive mounding, rolling fairways, and fast breaking greens. Lots of water here, but a fair test to be played by all levels of golfers.

 

LEGEND AT ARROWHEAD  (top)

The Legend at Arrowhead is a course set within six lakes and mature palm trees. The undulating greens offera level of excitement unmatched among Arizona golf courses. ARCHITECT: Arnold Palmer/Ed Seay YEAR BUILT: 1986 18 holes Par 72 GRASS TYPE: Bermuda with rye grass overseed during the winter months. Traditional links style golf facility, the course features a large number of fairway bunkers and many doglegs.

 

RANCHO MANANA GOLF CLUB  (top)

Rancho Manana Golf Club is located in the heart of the Sonoran Desert in historic Cave Creek. It is located at 5734 East Rancho Manana Boulevard,Cave Creek, AZ. Located near the enchanting Tonto National Forest, great viewscan be observed of Skull Mesa and Elephant Butte while enjoying the unparalleled and unforgettable surrounding desert. ARCHITECT: Bill Johnson YEAR BUILT: 1987 18 holes Par 70 GRASS TYPE: Bermuda Grass with rye overseed during the winter months.

 

RAVEN at SOUTH MOUNTAIN  (top)

ARCHITECT: Graham/Panks YEAR BUILT: 1995 18 holes Par 72 GRASS TYPE: The fairways are Tiffway419 with rye overseed during the winter months. The greens are Tiffdwarf Bermuda. The Raven Golf Club layout features plush, rolling fairways framed by thousands of mature pines, African Sumac and Oleander trees as well as vistas of rugged Desert Mountains and the Phoenix skyline. Out of play areas are covered in beds of thatched pine needles and countless flower gardens.

 

STONECREEK GOLF CLUB  (top)

Stonecreek Golf Club touts a challenging but very playable layout. It offers panoramic mountain views and provides the ideal balance of challenge and reward for all levels of play. ARCHITECT: Arthur Hills and Assoc. YEAR BUILT: 1983 18 holes Par 71 Renowned golf course architect Arthur Hills designed this course with four sets of tee placements. This course is a traditional links style with the tips playing 6800 yards. Challenging for all levels of golf enthusiast.

 

SUNRIDGE CANYON GOLF CLUB  (top)

ARCHITECT: Keith Foster YEAR BUILT: 1995 18 holes Par 71 GRASS TYPE: Fairways are Bermuda with rye overseed during winter months. The greens are Penncross/bentgrass. SunRidge Canyon was created by wind, water, rock and time, following nature's own course. Like nature, much about SunRidge is straight forward. The fairway and green-side bunkers are in strategic positions where they force you to consider both the risk and the rewards of executing your next shot. Water comes into play on five holes.

 

SUPERSTITION SPRINGS  (top)

Superstition Springs favors a strategic approach to each hole that calls on inventive shot making rather than brute force. Every hole is a new experience and merits some contemplation from the tees. ARCHITECT:Greg Nash YEAR BUILT: 1986 18 holes Par 72 GRASS TYPE: Bermuda with rye grass overseed during the winter months. This is a spectacular 18 hole par 72 resort style course. The Greg Nash design of expansive bunkers, unique mounding, multiple tees, and dazzling water holes makes for a great round with lots of excitement.

 

THE FOOTHILLS GOLF CLUB  (top)

ARCHITECT:Tom Weiskopf/Jay Morrish YEAR BUILT: 1988 18 holes Par 72 GRASS TYPE: Bermuda with rye grass overseed during the winter months The Foothills Golf Club is located in the secluded ridges and buttes of South Mountain and offers wide rolling fairways. The Foothills is a 18 hole links-style course and is far more forgiving than the prickly pounding you may have taken at a target desert course. A rigorous challenge for the low-handicapper, as well as an enjoyable and fair test for every golfer.

ARCHITECT: Tom Weiskopf/Jay Morrish YEAR BUILT: 1987 18 holes Par 71 GRASS TYPE: Bermuda with rye grass overseeding during the winter months. TCP Stadium Course annually ranks among the best public course in the state and the nation. The course is the annual host to the PGA Tour's Phoenix Open.

 

TROON NORTH - THE MONUMENT  (top)

ARCHITECT: Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish YEAR BUILT: 1990 18 holes Par 72 GRASS TYPE: Bermuda fairways and greens. Rye overseeding during the winter months. The Monument Course consistently ranked number one in Arizona by Golfweek and Golf Magazine.Wide fairways wind through a pristine desert landscape, ruled by tall saguaros and meandering washes. Rugged mountains can be seen from nearly every direction. It is extremely well-designed, providing the golfer with excellent views of each hole from the elevated tees.

 

TROON NORTH - PINNACLE  (top)

ARCHITECT: Tom Weiskopf YEAR BUILT: 1996 18 holes Par 72
GRASS TYPE: Bermuda fairways and greens. Rye overseed during the winter months. The Pinnacle Course features dramatic terrain with bigger rocks and Steeper drops. The course is designed to follow the sharp elevation changes of the land and offers spectacular views of the surrounding cities and mountains. The 18th hole gives golfers the illusion of teeing off directly into the Pinnacle Peak mountainside, which is how the course acquired its name.

 

WILDFIRE GOLF CLUB (SPC 100)  (top)

ARCHITECT: Arnold Palmer YEAR BUILT: 1997 18 holes Par 72 GRASSTYPE:Bermuda with rye grass overseeding during the winter months. Wildfire Golf Club is a desert style course of championship length located in Phoenix's Northeast Valley. The course has bent grass greens and four to six tee boxes on every hole, challenging all levels of golfing skill.
